Which radio is in your Berlingo II?

The Citroën Berlingo II (2008-2018) used the same PSA radio platform as all other Citroën and Peugeot models from that period.

Blaupunkt RD4 — The standard radio in most Berlingo II models. Single-DIN, CD player, RDS. Recognisable by the four preset buttons to the left of the display. Serial number starts with BP + fourteen digits.

Continental or Bosch RD45 — From around 2013 the RD45 appeared in later Berlingo II versions. Visually similar to the RD4, but with a USB port for playing MP3s. Serial number differs per manufacturer.

Retrieving your radio code

At the original point of sale, Citroën supplied an anti-theft card. With a company vehicle bought through lease or fleet, that card is sometimes still in the vehicle file held by the leasing company or the previous owner.

Also check:

  • The document folder — audio instruction booklet or a loose card
  • Inside the glovebox — a sticker left by a previous owner or dealer
  • The fleet file — sometimes kept for business-use vehicles

Removing the radio from the Berlingo II

The RD4 and RD45 are held in place with DIN clips. You'll need Citroën release keys — product code CT22UV01 or the universal PSA set PC5-83. Price: three to six pounds.

Step by step

Turn the ignition fully off.

Insert the release keys into the narrow slots on either side of the radio.

Push in until you feel the locking mechanism release (click).

Push the keys slightly apart while pulling the radio forward.

Pull the unit out five to ten centimetres.

Read off the serial number label. Quadlock connector (RD4): The Quadlock plug at the back has a locking lever. Turn it upward before you pull the connector loose. This also applies to the Berlingo II variant.

Reading off the serial number

For the Blaupunkt RD4:

  • Format: BP followed by fourteen digits — e.g. BP730098728824
  • Sometimes the label starts with 815BP — in that case only use the part from BP onwards
  • The label is on the top or side of the unit

For the RD45:

  • The format differs per manufacturer (Continental, Bosch)
  • Note down all characters on the label, including letters, digits and dashes

Entering the code

Once "CODE" appears on the display:

Press preset 1 repeatedly until the first digit of your code is correct.

Preset 2 for the second digit.

Preset 3 for the third digit.

Preset 4 for the fourth digit.

Hold the AS button or MODE button for two seconds. With a correct code the radio starts up immediately, without a separate confirmation.

Locked out after a wrong attempt?

After several incorrect attempts the radio locks:

Leave the ignition on (accessories on, engine off).

Wait thirty to sixty minutes without pressing anything.

After the waiting time, "CODE" appears again.

Now enter the correct code. Permanently locked: Too many wrong attempts in a row make the radio permanently unusable. Never guess at random.

Business use and the radio code

The Berlingo II is often used intensively for business. Think of:
