Which radio is fitted in the Dacia Logan II?

The second-generation Logan (platform L8, 2013–2019) is built on the Renault B platform — the same one that also underpins the Renault Clio III, the Dacia Sandero II and the Dacia Duster I. This applies to the audio system too.

Update List (standard)

The base and mid-range trims of the Logan II have the Update List by Continental. This is a compact Single DIN unit with a CD player, RDS and six preset buttons. Recognisable by its small, non-touchscreen display. The same unit is also fitted in the Renault Clio III and the Dacia Sandero II.

The Update List supports the PRE-code method — the quickest way to retrieve your code.

Media Nav (higher trims)

On the higher trim levels (Ambiance and Laureate), the Media Nav was available. A 7-inch touchscreen with GPS navigation, USB input and Bluetooth. The Media Nav is larger and has a different format than the Update List — they are not interchangeable without modification.

The Media Nav does not have a PRE-code button combination. For this you need the serial number, which requires removing the unit.

Retrieving the PRE-code without removing the unit (Update List)

The Update List has a built-in PRE-code function that gives you access to a short identification code. You use this code to request the full radio code — without having to remove anything from the dashboard.

Step-by-step instructions

Switch on the ignition (the engine does not need to be running).

Wait until the display shows "CODE".

Press and hold button 1 (far left) and button 6 (far right) at the same time.

After three to five seconds, a combination appears on the display: one letter followed by three digits — for example A123 or B456. This is your PRE-code.

Some Update List variants respond to a slightly different button combination: - Try button 1 + button 5 - Try button 2 + button 5 Is the radio not responding at all? Finding the radio code via your documents

Look for the code in the original documents first before touching the radio:

Document folder or service book — New Logan IIs came with a code card among the warranty and delivery documents.

Removing the radio from the Dacia Logan II

Removing the Update List

The Update List in the Logan II sits in a standard DIN-format slot:

Switch off the ignition.

Insert two DIN release keys into the narrow slots on either side of the radio — left and right.

Push them in until you feel a slight click. The locking pins are now retracted.

Pull the radio straight forward — ten to fifteen centimetres. The cables are long enough to read the serial number. ### Removing the Media Nav The Media Nav sits behind a centre console insert that is held in place with clips:

Switch off the ignition.

Use a plastic pry tool to unclip the decorative trim around the Media Nav. Work along the entire edge — usually four to six clips.

Once the trim is off, the two or four mounting screws are visible.

Undo the screws and pull the Media Nav forward.

If necessary, disconnect the GPS antenna cable — otherwise the cable is too short.

Reading off the serial number

Update List

The serial number is on a sticker on the side of the unit. It begins with 7700, 8200 or 2811 followed by a series of digits. Similar to numbers such as 281100003R or 7701065530.

Media Nav

The Media Nav serial number usually begins with 8201 or 8200, followed by a longer series. It's on a sticker on the back or side of the unit.

Tip: use a torch when reading it off — the sticker is sometimes in the shadow of the dashboard.

Entering the code

Update List

Switch on the ignition. The display shows "CODE - - - -".

Press button 1 to set the first digit. Each press increases the value (0–9).

Use buttons 2, 3 and 4 to set the remaining three digits.

Press and hold button 6 for two seconds to confirm the code. ### Media Nav The Media Nav shows a numeric keypad on the touchscreen. Enter the four digits on the screen and tap OK or Confirm.

Resolving a lockout

After several incorrect attempts, the radio refuses further input.

Steps:

Leave the ignition on — engine off, key in the start position.

Wait at least 30 minutes for the Update List, or 60 minutes for the Media Nav.

Do not disconnect the battery while waiting — that resets the wait timer but does not lift the lockout.

After the wait time, "CODE" appears on the display again. With each additional incorrect attempt, the lockout period increases. Order the correct code before making another attempt.
