Radio Code Fiat Ducato

The Fiat Ducato is the heart of the van market in Europe. From ambulance to camper, from refrigerated van to XL cargo bike — the Ducato is at home in every guise. With millions of examples covering tens of thousands of miles a year, battery replacements and electrical repairs are not the exception for Ducato owners but a routine job. And after every power interruption there is one thing that slows recovery: the radio asking for a code that no one ever kept.

The Ducato III (250, 2006-2014) was primarily a commercial vehicle. Its audio equipment was basic but functional:

• Fiat Radio — the simplest variant, just an AM/FM radio from Delphi. Standard in base trims.
• Radio Connect — a DIN-format CD radio with a small LCD, AM/FM and Bluetooth in some variants.
• Blue&Me Nav — the premium system with TomTom navigation, Bluetooth hands-free and voice control via the Microsoft Blue&Me platform.

All three work with a four-digit security code.

Commercial vehicles are used by multiple people, swapped between dealers and regularly serviced. A battery that gives out after standing overnight, a start attempt with a flat battery, or an electrical fault after bodywork — they all result in the same thing: the Ducato radio asks for its security code on restart.

This anti-theft protection is standard on all original Fiat radio systems. The code is linked to the unit's serial number and won't work in another car.

On commercial vehicles the document pack is kept less carefully than on passenger cars. Even so, there are places to check:

• Vehicle documents — when delivered new, a small card with the code was included with the paperwork. Sometimes in the order file of the purchasing company.
• Glovebox or centre console — previous users sometimes tucked the card into a compartment.
• Blue&Me Nav menu — on the navigation variant the serial number can sometimes be found in the system menu.
• Fiat Professional dealer — with the VIN and serial number a dealer can retrieve the code.

The serial number is on a sticker on the side or rear of the radio unit. You need to slide the radio partly out of the dashboard to reach it.

Fiat Radio and Radio Connect

After two incorrect attempts the radio locks temporarily. The message "LOCKED" or "WAIT" appears.

Solution:

• Trying the code from the camper conversion — many Ducatos have been converted into campers with modifications to the electrical system. The original radio code is factory-specific.
• Mixing up the AS/MODE button — the confirmation button differs per Ducato variant. Try both if one doesn't work.
• Using the serial number of the Citroën Jumper or Peugeot Boxer — the Ducato shares its platform, but the radio codes are unique to each vehicle.
