Radio Code Fiat Grande Punto
The Fiat Grande Punto was the first to combine Blue&Me — Fiat's own infotainment platform based on Microsoft Auto — with the classic Blaupunkt radio. That combination sometimes causes confusion: drivers who want to start their car after a battery change and run into a locked radio wonder whether it's the Blaupunkt or Blue&Me. The answer is simple: Blue&Me never asks for a radio code. If your display does, then you're dealing with the Blaupunkt.

Two systems, one dashboard
The Fiat Grande Punto (internally 199, sometimes also referred to as Punto III or Grande Punto) was built from 2005 to 2012. Fiat supplied the Grande Punto with a two-part audio approach:
Blaupunkt BP radio — the standard radio in virtually all Grande Puntos. A single-DIN unit with CD player, AM/FM and a compact display. After a power interruption — a flat or disconnected battery — CODE appears on the display. This system works with a 4-digit security code that is unique to each unit and derived from the BP serial number.
Blue&Me — an infotainment platform from Microsoft/TomTom that Fiat first introduced in 2005, with the Grande Punto as one of the first models. Blue&Me adds Bluetooth connectivity, voice recognition and optional navigation (via a TomTom Live navigation module on the windscreen). Blue&Me is controlled via the steering wheel buttons and a display interface. The system does not use a traditional radio code — Blue&Me is a separate platform that works alongside the Blaupunkt radio, not instead of it.
> In many Grande Puntos both systems are present: the Blaupunkt for the music and Blue&Me for the phone integration. The code you need is the one for the Blaupunkt.
The BP serial number
Blaupunkt uses its own serial number range for Fiat radios. The sticker shows:
- BP followed by a combination of numbers and letters
This is the serial number you need to request the corresponding 4-digit code. The sticker is on the side or back of the radio — visible once you've taken the radio out of the centre console.
Removing the radio from the Grande Punto
The Grande Punto has a standard DIN opening in the centre console that's easily accessible.
What you'll need
- Two thin DIN keys (extraction pins)
- Optional: plastic trim removal tool
Procedure
Entering the code on the Blaupunkt
Lockout after wrong attempts
After several incorrect codes, the Blaupunkt locks temporarily.
Blue&Me: what if that doesn't work?
Does your Grande Punto have Blue&Me and the phone integration or voice recognition doesn't work after a battery change? That has nothing to do with the radio code. Blue&Me automatically starts up again after power is restored — you don't need to enter a code. If Blue&Me no longer responds after a battery change, check:
- Whether the Blue&Me USB module is correctly seated in the USB port
- Whether the steering wheel buttons are connecting
- Whether a software update is needed for the Blue&Me module
Requesting the code for the Fiat Grande Punto
Options for requesting the Blaupunkt code:
- Fiat dealer: With the registration details and proof of ownership, an authorised Fiat dealer can look up the code.
- Code calculation service: Using the BP serial number from the unit, available online.
Request the radio code for your Fiat Grande Punto
With the BP serial number from your Blaupunkt radio, you can request the corresponding unlock code directly online. You'll receive the code within minutes by email.
