Radio Code Opel Zafira B

Seven seats, flexible folding benches and a boot that packs away like a puzzle — the Zafira B was for many years the family vehicle of choice for anyone who genuinely needed space. On the used market they are popular and affordable. But the Opel radio code deserves special attention: the CD30 MP3 and CD70 Navi allow only ten attempts before they lock permanently. This is not a temporary block — it is final.

The Zafira B (2005–2014) shares its radio platform with the Astra H and Corsa D. Four models were available as standard:

The CD30 MP3 was the standard unit in most Zafira B examples. The CDC40 Opera offered an internal 6-disc changer and later also DAB+. The CD70 Navi was the top-of-the-range model with a full navigation system.

With Volkswagen you are blocked after two wrong attempts and then wait an hour. With Ford you have ten attempts. With Opel you also have ten attempts — but the crucial difference is this: after the tenth incorrect attempt the radio is permanently blocked. There is no reset, no waiting period, no dealer procedure that can undo the lock.

That makes it especially important to have the correct code before you start entering anything. Never enter a code if you are not sure.

The Opel Car Pass

Every new Opel came with a Car Pass — a small card containing the security code for the radio, the immobiliser PIN and the key code. This card belongs with the service booklet.

Check these places:

• The service booklet or document wallet in the glovebox
• Behind the removable front panel of the glovebox
• On a sticker on the inner wall of the glovebox
• With the paperwork handed over at the time of purchase

Car Pass lost?

Then you will need the radio's serial number. Using the serial number you can request the code online.

CD30 and CD30 MP3 (Blaupunkt)

The serial number is on a sticker on the top of the radio unit. To read it you need to slide the radio a few centimetres out of the dashboard.

• The serial number begins with BP and has fourteen digits in total, for example BP730098728824.
• Sometimes there is an 815 prefix before it: in that case you will see 815BP730098728824 — use only the part after 815.

CD70 Navi — without removal

The CD70 Navi has a handy shortcut:

CD30 and CD30 MP3 (DIN release keys)

The CD30 MP3 and CDC40 are held in place with the DIN system. You need four DIN release keys — inexpensive tools (also known as Opel radio release keys or AERZETIX C10072 95mm) available for a few pounds at car accessory shops.

After every wrong code the number on the display drops by one: from 10 to 9, to 8, and so on. Once the display reaches 0, the radio is permanently blocked. Recovery is not possible without replacing the unit.

With the Zafira B the rule is: if in doubt, retrieve the code first and double-check it before you begin.

• Starting without knowing the code for certain — Ten attempts sounds generous, but it is not if you do not have the code. Look it up first.
• Not holding the AS button long enough — Wait for the beep. If you release too early, the entry mode will not start.
• Forgetting the BP prefix in the serial number — The number starts with BP: not 730098728824 but BP730098728824.
• Disconnecting the battery after a wrong attempt — This does NOT reset the attempt counter. The tally continues regardless of any power interruption.
• Mixing up the CD30 and CD30 MP3 — They use the same entry procedure, but each has its own serial number and code. They are not interchangeable.
