Why does the 107 often not need a code?

The Peugeot 107 is not built on the classic PSA platform of the 206 or 307. It shares its entire technical basis — engine, chassis, and audio system — with the Toyota Aygo and the Citroën C1. This was a joint project between PSA and Toyota that launched in 2005.

The radio unit in all three cars is a simple OEM unit that in many cases has no security code. Toyota's approach to basic radio security differs from Peugeot's traditional PSA security system. The result: a significant proportion of 107s simply start the radio after a battery reset, without asking for a code.

Which radio is fitted to the 107?

The Peugeot 107 does not have a Blaupunkt RD4, nor a VDO RD3. It is a simple single-DIN radio from the Toyota/PSA platform. Depending on the model year and market, there are minor variations:

  • Basic versions: simple radio with CD player, small display, limited features
  • Later (2009+): some 107s received a slightly more modern unit with RDS and MP3
  • Facelift (2012–2014): similar, sometimes with an aux input

There is no RD4 serial number starting with "BP", and there is no VDO or Clarion unit either. If you do see a CODE display, read the label on the radio unit carefully before supplying the serial number.

Removing the radio

The radio in the 107 is held in place by DIN clips. You will need a pair of DIN removal pins — the same as for other PSA models (product code PC5-83 or a universal DIN set).

Insert the release keys into the narrow slots on either side of the radio.

Push in until you feel the click — the locking mechanism releases.

Push the keys slightly apart while pulling the radio forwards.

Pull the unit out five to ten centimetres.

Read the serial number label (on the top or side of the unit).

Reading the serial number

If your 107 does require a code, the serial number is on a sticker on the top or side of the radio unit. The format varies by version:

  • Some units have a Toyota-style serial number without a BP prefix
  • Others have a PSA-style label similar to older RD1 radios
  • Note down all characters on the label — letters, numbers, and any hyphens

Entering the code

If the display shows "CODE", use the preset buttons:

Press preset 1 repeatedly until the first digit is correct.

Confirm with the MODE button or another confirm button (consult the owner's manual for your specific variant).

Locked out?

After several incorrect attempts, the radio may impose a waiting period. Leave the ignition on for thirty to sixty minutes. After that, "CODE" will appear again. Enter the correct code at that point.

Never guess a code at random — too many incorrect attempts can permanently lock the radio.
