Which radio does your 207 have?

The Peugeot 207 (2006-2012) was fitted almost without exception with the Blaupunkt RD4. This is the same unit used in the 308 I, 3008, and various Citroën models. You can recognise it by its green or amber display and the four preset buttons to the left of the screen.

Higher trim levels offered navigation as an optional extra:

Blaupunkt RD4 — The standard radio in virtually all 207s. CD player, RDS, single DIN format. Serial number begins with BP followed by fourteen digits.

Magneti Marelli RT3 — The optional CD-based navigation system. Double DIN, integrated into the centre panel. This system is VIN-linked and has no traditional radio code — any issues with it require PSA DiagBox.

Magneti Marelli RT6 — Found in the rarer top-spec trim levels. Colour touchscreen, also VIN-linked.

Finding your radio code

Peugeot supplied every new car with a security card (also known as an anti-theft card) containing the radio code. Check:

The document wallet — the slim audio instruction booklet alongside the service book
The inside of the glovebox — dealers sometimes stuck a label here
With the spare key — sometimes stored in the same envelope

No card? You will need to remove the radio to read the serial number.

Removing the radio

The Blaupunkt RD4 in the 207 is held in place by DIN clips. You will need PSA release keys — product code PC5-83 or CT22PE01. Price: around three to six pounds.

Step by step

Switch the ignition fully off.

Insert the two release keys into the narrow slots on either side of the radio (not into the CD slot).

Push them inwards until you feel a click — the locking mechanism releases.

Angle the keys slightly outwards (away from each other) while pulling the radio forward.

Pull the radio out five to ten centimetres.

Read the serial number from the label. Watch out for the Quadlock connector: The RD4 has a Quadlock plug on the back with a locking lever. Turn this lever upwards before pulling the connector free. Do not force it — you will break the locking mechanism.

Reading the serial number

The BP serial number is printed on a white label on the top or side of the radio unit. The format is always:

BP followed by fourteen digits — for example BP730098728824
Some labels begin with 815BP — in that case, use only the portion starting from BP

Note the number down carefully. Any mistake will produce an incorrect code.

Entering the code on the RD4

Once the display shows "CODE", enter the four-digit code as follows:

Press preset 1 repeatedly until the first digit of your code appears (the counter cycles from 0 to 9).

Do the same with preset 2 for the second digit.

Preset 3 for the third digit.

Preset 4 for the fourth digit.

Hold the AS button or MODE button for two seconds to confirm. If the code is correct, the radio switches immediately to normal operation. The display shows no confirmation message — the radio simply plays.

Locked out after a wrong attempt?

The RD4 has a lockout mechanism. After several incorrect attempts, "CODE" disappears from the display. What to do:

Leave the ignition on (engine off, ignition in position II).

Wait at least thirty minutes — some units require sixty minutes.

After the waiting period, "CODE" will reappear.

Now enter the correct code. Warning: Too many consecutive wrong attempts will result in a permanent lockout. The radio becomes unusable and cannot be unlocked. Never guess a code.

The RD4 does more than play music

In the Peugeot 207, the RD4 also handles vehicle information: outside temperature, service warnings, and maintenance notifications all appear on the radio display. If you replace the RD4 with a unit from another Peugeot, you will need PSA DiagBox to pair the new unit with your car. Bear this in mind before deciding to swap the radio.
