Radio Code Peugeot 3008 I

The 3008 I sets itself apart from smaller Peugeots by including a full navigation system in higher trim levels. That upgrade comes with a catch: the RT6 system works in a fundamentally different way from a standard radio, and the question of whether you need a code after a battery reset has a different answer too.

Before reading on, take a look at the centre of the dashboard. The Peugeot 3008 I (2009-2016) was supplied with two distinctly different infotainment options.

Blaupunkt RD4 — the standard radio

Most 3008 I examples have a Blaupunkt RD4. You can identify it by its compact single-DIN format: a unit the size of a standard car radio, with a small green or amber display and separate preset buttons. It includes a CD player, RDS, and MP3 support.

This system does require a four-digit security code after a power interruption.

Magneti Marelli RT6 — the navigation system

In higher trim levels (Active, Allure, GT Line), the RT6 was available as a navigation system. It is a colour touchscreen that occupies a sizeable portion of the centre panel — no longer a separate DIN unit, but an integrated system. Also known as RNEG2 or WipNav+.

This system is fully VIN-linked. It is electronically bound to the BSI of your specific vehicle and requires no traditional radio code. After a battery change, the RT6 starts up normally, provided there are no other issues.

If you have an RD4, Peugeot supplied a security card with the four-digit radio code when the car was new. Check:

• The document wallet — the audio instruction booklet alongside the service book
• The glove box — dealers sometimes placed a sticker on the inside of the flap
• The service folder — some owners keep the card with the vehicle registration documents

If you cannot find the card, you will need to read the serial number after removing the radio.

The RD4 is held in place by DIN clips. You will need PSA release keys — product code PC5-83 or CT22PE01. These typically cost between three and six pounds from automotive retailers.

Step by step

The serial number is on a label on the top or side of the RD4:

• Format: BP followed by fourteen digits — for example BP730098728824
• Some labels begin with 815BP — in that case, use the portion starting from BP

There are several numbers on the label. The PSA part number begins with 96... — that is not the serial number you need.

Note the BP number carefully. Any mistake will produce an incorrect code.

Once the display shows "CODE" after a power interruption:

After several incorrect attempts, the RD4 locks and "CODE" disappears from the display.

If your 3008 I has an RT6 navigation system and the screen fails to start after a battery change, entering a radio code is not the solution. The RT6 has no four-digit PIN. Possible causes of an RT6 that will not start:

• BSI configuration issue following a battery change
• Software restart problem that resolves itself after a few minutes of driving
• Faulty unit

If you experience RT6 problems after a battery change, try turning the ignition fully off, waiting ten seconds, and switching back on. If that does not resolve it, a PSA DiagBox session at a Peugeot dealer is the next step. Replacing an RT6 always requires DiagBox recoding — the unit must be paired to the BSI again.

In the 3008 I, the RD4 also manages vehicle information: outside temperature, service indicator bars, and maintenance warnings are all shown on the radio display. If you replace the RD4 with a unit from another Peugeot, you will need PSA DiagBox to correctly pair the new unit to your car's BSI.
